Anti Aging mud facials, sea salts, and cucumbers: Three natural ingredients equal one younger face and body!!

I have been reading Vogue magazine since I was a teenager, and I have always paid special attention to their recommendations for skin care and anti-aging remedies. However, surprisingly enough, I had always believed that chemical treatments and creams were the best way to go in terms of reversing the signs of aging and preventing wrinkles because they had been scientifically tested and proven.

Nonetheless, I had also read about mud baths and been told that they were an absolute MUST because they are 100% natural and can be used not only to help your skin look and feel younger, but you can also put most mud bath products in your hair too!! A friend of mine from college who had always gotten compliments on her skin once said to me: “If you want a relaxing facial tip that also helps with wrinkles and improving your skin tone, I recommend the good old fashioned cucumber slices over the eyes, a natural anti aging mud facials mask, and soaking in a bath of sea salts.” At first I thought this was a myth and also way too good to be true, but after trying it; I must say from personal experience that this is one home remedy that really does work and is relatively inexpensive compared to some of the chemically produced masks and facial methods on the market. I did have to try a few different types of sea salts before I found one that really worked for me and was more hypoallergenic. Sea salts can be kind of irritating to the skin depending upon which types you purchase, so be careful in that arena since most naturally derived products are not necessarily tested on various skin types.

In terms of the mud facial mask and cucumber though, that process is as easy as it gets!! You can find mud baths anywhere, but do your homework in terms of making sure it is indeed all-natural before you purchase it. This can be as easy as reading and comparing the ingredients. I continue to use a dead sea mineral mud treatment from a local beauty supply store near my home, and it works great!
The steps are pretty self-explanatory.

Of course, apply the mud bath to your face before the cucumber (and body if you choose to do the full body mask at the same time), then place a single cucumber slice over each eye, set a timer for 20-30 minutes, sit back, and relax!! I tried doing this twice a week over the course of a few months, and I noticed a DRAMATIC difference in my skin. My pores were smaller and less noticeable and my overall skin tone was more even. The dark circles and puffiness that used to be so prevalent under my eyes improved drastically each day, and my skin felt smoother and less oily over time as well.

Just like with any home beauty regimen, it will not necessarily happen overnight and the results will vary from person to person depending upon whether you have any pre-existing skin conditions, in which case you may want to seek the advice of a dermatologist first.
